Rosalee Catherine Scheller
Rosalee Catherine Scheller, age 98, of Poseyville, passed away at 2:00 Thursday morning, February 12, 2026, at her home. She was born December 31, 1927, at home in Posey County, where she lived her entire life.
Rosalee attended Saint Francis Catholic School and Cynthiana High School and married Arthur Scheller Jr. in 1948. In addition to raising her family, she helped with farm work and devoted her life to Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir for more than 80 years, served as church sacristan, and was active in the Ladies Club, St. Vincent de Paul, and St. Ann’s Auxiliary. In 2013, she was honored with the Brute Award for her service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Scheller Jr.; her children, Joseph and Mary Scheller; her grandchildren, Melanie Will, Spencer Scheller, and Michael Black; her parents, Adam and Otilia Schmitt; and several siblings.
Rosalee is survived by her children, Kathleen Black, Jacqueline Bender, Patricia Will, Joyce Heard, Lois Martin, Patrick Scheller, Thomas Scheller, and James Scheller; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and several sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 Tuesday morning, February 17, at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Poseyville, with burial to follow. Visitation will be today from 3:00 until 7:00 at the Saint Francis School Cafeteria for Rosalee Catherine Scheller.
