Reuben Schroeder

Reuben Schroeder passed away at the age of 85. He was born October 21, 1940, in Mt. Vernon, to George and Martha Schroeder.

Reuben graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and attended Purdue University. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of Zion-Lippe United Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon.

Reuben worked for Whirlpool Corporation and Agrico Chemical Company before moving to Albany, Georgia, where he owned and operated Taylor’s Market for 23 years. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting, gardening, and following Purdue sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

Reuben is survived by his wife, Mary Schroeder; his children, Angie Potter, Nathan Schroeder, and Mark Schroeder; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sisters, Ruth Rueger and Mildred Morrison; and his brothers, Ervin Schroeder and Norman Schroeder.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, March 11, from 5:00 until 7:00 at Denning Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon, March 12, at 2:00 at Zion-Lippe United Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon for Reuben Schroeder.
