North Posey Vikings Football VS South Spencer 09-26-25
The North Posey Vikings celebrated homecoming in thrilling fashion Friday night at Joe Jingle Ball Field, pulling away late to earn a 49–28 victory over South Spencer. It was a game filled with offense and big plays from both teams, with nearly 900 combined yards between them. After the Rebels tied the game at 28–28 late in the third quarter, the Vikings regrouped and delivered a dominant fourth quarter, scoring three unanswered touchdowns to secure their fifth win of the season and remain undefeated in conference play.
The night was defined by explosive offense on both sides. South Spencer’s Trey Lance ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback Jasik Miller added 238 yards passing and another score. His favorite targets were Braden Hughes and Tate Schulte, who combined for all of the Rebels’ receiving yards. Hughes caught a 90-yard touchdown pass and finished with 124 yards through the air, while Schulte hauled in six passes for 143 yards and added a rushing score. Despite their strong performance, the Rebels couldn’t slow down a relentless North Posey offense that answered every challenge.
Vikings quarterback Carter Schickel turned in another outstanding performance, completing 19 of 23 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. Schickel has now thrown 20 touchdowns with just one pick this season, showing his precision and poise under pressure. On the ground, senior running back Bret Buecher powered the North Posey rushing attack with 190 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries, breaking multiple tackles and wearing down the Rebel defense late in the game.
Schickel’s passing attack was spread across several key receivers. Remi Johnson led the way with eight catches for 122 yards and a touchdown, while Dylan Murphy added six receptions for 89 yards and two scores. Brody Fehn chipped in with 72 yards and a touchdown reception, and Camden Clowers added three catches for 21 yards. Placekicker Ethan Ashby remained perfect, going seven-for-seven on extra points to bring his season totals to 30-for-30 on PATs and four-for-four on field goals.
Defensively, the Vikings got crucial stops late to seal the win. Landon Crawford led the team with ten tackles, while Lane Young tallied two sacks and six total tackles. Murphy and Clowers each added six tackles as North Posey’s defense tightened in the fourth quarter to shut out the Rebels over the final 12 minutes. With the victory, North Posey improved to 5–1 overall and 4–0 in the PAC Small School Division. The Vikings will look to keep their momentum rolling when they travel to Forest Park next Friday night to take on the Rangers.
